About Us

Our Congregation of the “Catechist Sisters of Mary Immaculate Help of Christians”, commonly known as Sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI) was founded by Bishop Louis LaRavoire Morrow, SDB, fourth Bishop of Krishnagar, West Bengal, India. It was founded with the purpose of Evangelization and Catechesis through home visitation and village apostolate with the motto, “To love God and help others to love God.

Our Founder
Bishop Louis LaRavoire Morrow, our Father Founder was born on 24 December, 1892 in Weatherford, Texas, USA. His parents were Joseph LaRavoire, a devout French Catholic, and Isabel Morrow, a staunch New Jersey Episcopalian. His brother was Frank and sister Margarita. At the age of five the family moved to Mexico for business reasons. Our founder did his initial studies in the public school in Mexico city…
